Language and Communications Academy

The Language and Communications Academy at A.L. Burruss Elementary provides kindergarten through fifth grade students a broad academic program using multi-modal instruction to develop speaking, writing, presentation and collaboration skills. This program challenges students to become critical thinkers, and to effectively obtain, interpret, and apply information to communicate ideas.

The 2010 Decennial Census will be here soon, with census forms mailed to all Georgia residential addresses the week of Mar. 15. The Georgia Complete Count Committee, in cooperation with the Governor and the General Assembly, has declared Mar. 8 – 14 as Census Awareness Week.

Twelve Marietta City Schools (MCS) students are among the recently named system winners of the 2010 Young Georgia Authors’ Competition. The Georgia Department of Education GADOE) selects from among the system winners for the Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) district competition. The RESA district competition includes entries from other area school systems. RESA District winners advance to the statewide competition. The Board of Education of the City of Marietta has named Scott Burton, most recently an Assistant Football Coach at the University of Richmond (Virginia), as the new Head Football Coach at Marietta High School (MHS). Burton will teach Social Studies and serve as Liaison of Football Programs at MHS. He will assume the post Apr. 1, 2010. More»
