Language and Communications Academy
The Language and Communications Academy at A.L. Burruss Elementary provides kindergarten through fifth grade students a broad academic program using multi-modal instruction to develop speaking, writing, presentation and collaboration skills. This program challenges students to become critical thinkers, and to effectively obtain, interpret, and apply information to communicate ideas.

Superintendent's Budget Update February 2010
The Board of Education of the City of Marietta will soon begin development of the Fiscal Year 2011 (FY11) budget. The school board must approve the FY11 budget by June 30, 2010. The state Legislature is currently in session and is considering education funding for the coming fiscal year. Unfortunately, due to the current economic situation facing Georgia, the outlook calls for further reductions in education funding. More»
System-Wide Kindergarten Registration, Feb. 8-12, 2010
Marietta City Schools kindergarten registration for the 2010-2011 school year begins Feb. 8 and ends Feb. 12, 2010. District Elementary Choice Academies Random Drawing Scheduled, Feb. 10
Marietta City Schools (MCS) will hold a Choice Academies random drawing for student placement at A.L. Burruss Elementary School, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the MCS Central Administrative Offices located at 250 Howard Street in Marietta. The random drawing is for student placements for the 2010-2011 school year. Parents/guardians do not have to be present in order for their child’s application to be included in the drawing. More»

Cybersafety Booklet For Parents/Kids Now Available
Net Cetera: Chatting with Kids About Being Online, a new booklet released by the Federal Trade Commission, tells parents and teachers what they need to know to talk to kids about issues like cyber bullying, sexting, mobile phone safety, and protecting the family computer. The free booklet is available at OnGuardOnline.gov, the federal government’s online safety Web site.
